Check the Founder’s Profile carefully; Startup Investing Tip

When it comes to make most out of a startup investment, you must explore all the areas which can help minimizing the risk associated with the startup. One such area is “Founder’s profile”.

Drill into the track record of the founders; and it will certainly give you some hints about how successful the startup can be.

While doing appropriate due diligence, looking at the people behind the company is the most critical factor, especially for early stage companies. This is mainly due to the fact that products need to be iterated several times until they are able to find where they fit in the market.

As Jim Collins writes in his book “From Good To Great”, “it is all about having the right people sitting in the right seat”. As you explore the founders’ profiles, you will find the right direction to move.

In order to scan founders’ profiles effectively, focus on their background story, i.e. previous ventures, companies they have worked for, education etc. Also look into the business networking sites, like Linkedin to check what recommendations they have received!

Did you know that diversifying your investments can reduce the risk?

How Much Money Can I Make with Laundry Business?

The amount of money one can make from a laundry varies, depending upon multiple factors, i.e. location, number of customers, pricing, costs and so on.

If you are planning to set up a single laundry outlet it's great as it is a limited setup and can be monitored easily as well as profits can be maximized with little effort.

On part of laundry chains, they are normally not the small business owners and are big businesses. Operations of big businesses are totally different than that of the small business, and so the profits.

Well, here we will discuss only if you plan single or a couple of outlets. To have close estimates of profit, a laundry business plan is essential, as it lists down everything in order and so you can have a close idea of what will the business earn at each stage.

The business is fairly steady, month in and month out, however, you need consistent efforts to bring in more clients.

See, clean clothes are a necessity and not a luxury; so people are likely to need your services in any cases. Laundry businesses are more successful in the areas where both husband and wife are working. Also if you are not physically located there, offering a pick & deliver service can work great in these areas.

To figure out how much money fairly you can make, find the estimated number of clients first. Having estimates of the customers and profit per client, it's easy to get a better idea!

Opening Another Location: Is It the Right Way of Business Expansion?

Well, this might not be your best choice for business expansion always, but yes in some cases. Opening another location is something that comes to mind first for so many entrepreneurs while considering expansion.

To be precise, "Physical" expansion isn't always the right growth strategy. It needs careful research, planning and above all the "number-planning".

So, if you are really concerned about the growth in right direction and opening another location is at the top of your list, consider the following points before going further.

  1. Make sure you're maintaining a consistent bottom-line profit and that you've shown steady growth over the past few years.
  2. Look at the trends, both economic and consumer, for indications on your company's staying power.
  3. Make sure your administrative systems and management team are extraordinary-you'll need them to get a new location up and running. Prepare a complete business plan for a new location.
  4. Determine where and how you'll obtain financing.
  5. Choose your location based on what's best for your business, not your wallet.
The above five tips are taken from the expert advice of Frances McGuckin, a popular small business speaker, writer and consultant. To have a more clear understanding do follow Startup Guys' How to grow a small business faster; a detailed guide that covers 5 major areas of a small business startup.
